Dim Sum Afloat!

As promised in my previous Dim Sum blog, I’ll give you a cheap, but good alternative for Dim Sum restaurants in London. And, this is my first cheap option: Lotus Restaurant in Canary Wharf. This two-storey restaurant is very popular among the locals.

Moored–you heard it right! this restaurant is a big massive boat!!–at Baltimore Walk, a few minutes away from Crosshabour DLR station, Lotus serves traditional, luscious Dim Sum at very low price. How “low” are we talking? Say, less than £15 per head, and I’ll guarantee you’ll be stuffed. Just don’t be fooled over by the dishes’ humble look.

I ordered Har Gau (small but sufficient), Char Siu Buns (massive and gorgeous!), Squids in Chilli Sauce (lovely, mildly spiced touch), Malaysian Sponge Cake (AMAZING!!!), Char Siu Pork Puff (a little too sweet for my liking but the pastry is very flakey) and Egg Tarts (just melting in your mouth, seriously!). Indeed, the sweet Dim Sum dishes at Lotus are top-notch. Writing this, I can’t wait to go back for more ;)

Also, to make the most of your cheap experience, try asking for a table next to the wharf. The view is just superbly expensive.

PS Apologies for the slow Barcelona updates. The Skinny Bib is rather busy and it has totally nothing to do with food. How tragic!!

Enough said ….

My head rating says, “9 out of 10″.

My heart rating says, “8 out of 10″.
