Years have gone by when our once laddish ‘Naked’ chef has become fully clothed. You know who I’m talking about and you must admit you won’t dream of seeing him naked now. Yes, it’s Jamie Oliver, a very hyped TV chef-turned-food-activist. Today I went to his high-street chain, Jamie’s Italian. I am not talking any Jamie’s Italian (as a few suffer to get the consistency right) but the one on Upper St Martin’s Lane, Covent Garden.
As far as my Jamie experience goes, including 15, this Covent Garden chain is the best. Cozy and bustling. Crab Meat Risotto with Pan Fried Scallops (special of the day), Feather Steak, Sage, Prosciutto with Tomato Salsa, and the side dishes of Posh Chips and Rocket Salad. The risotto just oozed flavours–though not too hard to replicate this one at home–and the steak was so light!! There are so many other good dishes, with my favourites being the massive burger and the bruschetta of Ricotta cheese with oven-roasted cherry tomatoes.
