A Mayfair neighbourhood restaurant.
Chinese. Quite modern. By the brother of Alan Yau. One Michelin star. Not much talked about until it got on Ramsay’s Best Restaurant on Channel 4. I don’t have much else to say. Kai isn’t one of those restaurants that make a lot of impact to you after you eat there (just like many other 1-starred restaurants really!).
Fast-forwarding to my favourite dish there…”Braised Abalone, Fresh Truffles, Broccolini, Jus Reduction”. A big makeover of a traditional abalone dish, which worked marvellously. There is a real bite, not-too-chewy texture of the abalone intensified by the jus, while the broccolini adds a lighter, refreshing touch to the dish. Truffles shaved on top. True luxury.
To conclude..
