If there is a restaurant that I’d say never gets old, it must be Belgravia’s one and only Italian establishment Zafferano. Massive dining rooms. Many corners and alleys. A little too suited at lunch during the week. Friendly waiters loud enough to capture the Italian spirit and courteous enough to ensure a fine dining experience.
The cooking, deserving its Michelin star, is light, unpretentious and full of flavours. Dishes individually priced. Comforting with gastronomic retouch. If you want your pasta to be pasta, your fish to be fish and your meat to be meat and your black truffle to be black truffle. Zafferano is THE place!
Burrata Parcels with Prawns, Oregano and Tomato was satisfying. Prawns were nicely cooked and herbed tomato sauce flavoursome. My only criticism was that with a bit more Burrata in the parcels, this dish would be so indulgent!
My unforgettable dish, Pan-Fried Veal Cutlet with Spinach and Girolle Mushrooms! Veal was cooked to perfection, so tender that it melted in your mouth. The jus was light enough to accentuate the flavour of the veal without overpowering the beautifully summery girolles.
Buffalo Ricotta Cannoli with Orange, Chocolate and Pistachio. It’s been on the menu for a while. Crusty cannoli deeply piped with silky, relentlessly mild ricotta and puffed with pistachio powder. Zesty orange brought about a zingy touch.
To conclude..
